we are packing up to spend a week at a hotel so we can have the mold removed from our attic. We have all been sick this week. It might be normal-winter-time-yuckiness or it might be due to the mold. Either way, I will be so glad when it's gone!
After I had my meltdown last week, we received a call from the insurance company. They are paying to remove all the mold, tear out the ceiling and drywall, repair and paint. Woohoo! That was an answer to prayer. They are also paying for us to stay at a hotel, any extra gas expenses and a portion of eating out expenses. Can you believe it? We're getting a vacation out of this deal! Of course, B will still be working and the kids will still go to school. BUT, we get to swim and eat out all week. AND I don't have to cook or clean for a week! I think I'm getting the best deal out of the whole thing! Who knew that a moldy attic could end up being a fun thing?
The only unknown is the roof...insurance isn't touching it. Our prayer is that there is no mold on it and that it doesn't warp as it dries out...
In the meantime, I'll be giving you a glimpse as to what goes into staying in a hotel for a week with 5 kids...stay tuned if you're interested in that type of thing...or if you just love me...or think my life is crazy...which it is...
God is so good! Thanking Him that He's orchestrated a mini-vaca out of such a moldy situation!
ReplyDeleteHi, Andrea. We had some water damage at our house and had to stay at a hotel for a few days. I am thankful that your insurance company has been so great to you. We did not receive reimbursement for our hotel expenses or food expenses :-( Glad that all is going well for you and the family. I pray for God's continued favor during this difficult time.
